Why are some so demanding that Dunkin Donuts be boycotted?
The company’s advertising strategies are the root of the social media hashtag #BoycottDunkinDonuts.
The creator of the Rumble video platform, Chris Pavlovski, disclosed that Dunkin gave him the order to remove right-wing commentator Steven Crowder off the site and to stop featuring right-wing culture in order to avoid having to pay for advertising with them.
In response to Dunkin, Pavlovski said,
“No, we don’t practice prejudice. You are invited to Rumble from any culture.
There have been other instances in which Steven Crowder has encountered controversy.
He had previously had many YouTube suspensions and demonetizations, which prompted him to permanently move his channel to Rumble.
- Despite the platform’s far smaller viewership, Crowder continues to be a significant right-wing voice, accumulating hundreds of thousands of views every broadcast.
- The current boycott movement is just another example of the continuous struggle in the digital era between content platforms, marketers, and content producers.
Boycott Dunkin Donuts proponents claim that Dunkin’s purported position violates the right to free expression.
Both @Diageo_NA and @dunkindonuts want us to drop @scrowder and get away from "right wing culture" in order to get ad dollars from them.

My response: No, we don't discriminate. All cultures are welcome on Rumble.
- There are, nevertheless, those who agree with Dunkin Donuts’ decision and see it as a sensible business move to preserve the company’s reputation.
- This is just another example of the fine line and balancing act that businesses must walk in today’s very divisive media environment, particularly with regard to content providers that target certain ideological groups.
Advertising tactics must be balanced with the possibility of criticism from different customer groups.

- Many people brought up the boycott of Bud Light in 2023, which was the catalyst for conservatives to end the corporate ethos of seeking equal treatment for companies like Duncan Donuts.
- It remains to be seen how much of an impact this boycott will have in the long run on Dunkin’s business and promotional strategies.
