Har Ghar Tiranga Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked citizens to upload photos with the tricolor on the website harghartiranga.com from August 13 to 15 as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement. In a post on Twitter, PM Modi said that “the tricolor symbolizes the spirit of freedom and national unity. You can upload your photo here: https://harghartiranga.com, you can upload your photo with the tricolor here. ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Culture to mark the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence in the year 2022. The ministry also launched the Har Ghar Tiranga website which provides Indian citizens the facility to pin the national flag as well as share their selfies with the tricolor.

How to upload a colored selfie: Citizens can upload their selfie with the national flag on the Har Ghar Tiranga website. Follow these steps to post your selfie with the flag on the Har Ghar Tiranga website:

Click on ‘Upload Selfie with Flag’ button. There is an option on the homepage of the website.

  1. A pop-up will appear on the website, you can write your name on it.
  2. Upload your tricolor selfie and users can dropdown files here.
  3. Click on ‘Submit’ button. Please note that in order to upload a selfie, you have to give your consent for the use of your name and photo on the ‘hargartiranga.com‘ website.

This page also allows users to search for their Tiranga selfie. The page states that “If your selfie is not visible, you will be able to see your selfie from 16 August 2023, 8:00 am.”

What should I remember to prevent displaying the national flag incorrectly?

  • The saffron band should not be the bottom band of the national flag, and the flag may not be flown upside down.
  • No national flag that is damaged or untidy may be exhibited.
  • No person or object should be saluted by dipping the national flag.
  • No other flag, bunting, or item, including flowers, garlands, or an emblem, may be flown from a flagmast from which any other flag, bunting, or object may be flown higher than, above, or side by side with the National Flag.
  • It is forbidden to use the national flag as a festoon, rosette, bunting, or in any other decorative way.
  • The National Flag may not touch the ground, the floor, or the water’s surface.
  • The National Flag may not be flown or attached in any way that might harm it.
  • It is improper to fly the National Flag and any other flag(s) from the same masthead (top of a flagpole).
  • The National Flag may not be displayed above a speaker’s platform or used to cover a speaker’s desk.
  • The National Flag may not be embroidered or printed on pillows, handkerchiefs, napkins, undergarments, or any other clothing material, nor may it be worn as a part of a costume, uniform, or accessory of any kind that is worn below the waist of any individual.
